What Causes Headache

A headache is a mild condition to severe pain in the head. The percentage of the migraine and tension headache is usually very high. The existence of the headache can either be in form of recurrent or single in nature. There is a wide variety of factors that cause a headache that ranges from inflammation to the eyestrain of sinus cavities leading to threats conditions for life like brain cancer, cerebral aneurysms and encephalitis. Many causes of the headache are elusive and the most common one is a prolonged stress and tension. They are commonly known as the muscle contraction headaches and tension headaches.

There are also psychological factors that cause headaches. These include fatigue, mechanical strain on the neck and also anxiety. Usually they are the cause of tension headache that is common. Migraine is the type of a headache that is caused by certain foods like cheese or some beverages like wine, hormonal changes, lack of sleep, strong odors and stress. Dilation of the blood vessel in the head is also a factor that causes migraine headaches. This type of a headache is very common. When the bacteria invade and the nasal sinuses get infected, they cause sinus headache. This usually occurs after the infections of the upper respiratory.

Trigeminal neuralgia is the type of a headache that is caused by the compressions of the vascular due to some abnormality of arterial roots near nerve root. There are other causes for this type of a headache like malignancy, cranial arteritis, multiple sclerosis, and intra-cranial aneurysms. The highest percentages of people affected by this type of headache are women. The pain last for 2 to 120 seconds. Maxillary supplies the pain to the cheek, ophthalmic supplies to forehead, scalp and eye and then mandibular supplies it to chin, lower lip and lower cheek.

There are times whereby there is no evidence as to why the headache occurred therefore it is predicted that the cause might be the constriction of blood vessels. There are pain sensitive nerves in the blood vessels in the head that always activates every time the blood vessel constricts and that responds to the brain. However, tension and cluster headaches may occur due to this. Some serious diseases that are still hidden in the bodies may lead to occurrence or severe headaches. Headaches can be fatal and should therefore never be ignored.

Headaches sometimes are signs of some diseases that are very dangerous in our bodies like stroke, severe blood pressures or a brain tumor. Meningitis is a well known disease that starts inform of a headache. The headache is usually accompanied by fever, visual problems and also stiff neck. Environmental factors may also cause very severe headaches. This can be caused by carbon monoxide that is from automobile exhaust. With the wide range of chronic and severe headache, it is important to seek for a doctors advice.
