Pancake Cooking Spatulas

by Carrie D. Romen

Do you ever make pancakes? About how often do you make pancakes? Once in a blue moon, or once a week? No matter how often you make pancakes, you should be using the right tools and that includes using the right cooking spatula.

Are cooking spatulas really all that important? Not really. You could make pancakes without a spatula, but I can’t guarantee they would come out right, and they probably wouldn’t look all that great.

What is a cooking spatula? When you think of a spatula, you probably picture those things that flip pancakes and burgers. Those aren’t technically called a spatula. The real cooking term for one of those is a flipper.

A spatula is actually what most people call a rubber scraper. It is those kitchen tools with the rubbery plastic end that you use to scrape the remaining batter out of a bowl when you are making cake or brownies.

There is some good news if you are confused. Some spatulas can be used as both a rubber scraper and a flipper. This makes for the ultimate pancake tool. You stir up the batter and get the past bit and then use the same tool to flip the pancakes.

Do you want to make some easy delicious pancakes? Whip up some batter and pour it to form pancakes on a hot griddle. Let them cook until tiny bubbles form and then flip them over with the spatula and wait until cooked.

When they are nice and golden brown, flip them over and serve them on a plate with butter and syrup. You could try fresh fruit and whipped cream for something delicious and a little more nutritious.

Do you still love pancakes? I’m sure you do and now that you know what you need that’s all the more reason to go out, get your ingredients, and make up a delicious batch of pancakes right away!
